Ofra Girls High School New Immigrants – August 2017
What is the Cost of Finding a New Homeland?
Imagine yourself feeling unsafe and unwelcome in your native country? For many Jews living in the world today, that is exactly how they are feeling. Some have felt so unwelcome, that they have made the difficult choice to uproot their families from all that is known and comfortable to them and move to Israel! It is exciting to fulfill the ultimate Jewish dream to make Aliyah, for Israel to become their new homeland. However, making that transition comes with a unique set of challenges. It can be especially difficult for teens. Their whole world is turned upside down, and they are thrust into a different culture, where they don’t even speak the language! Making that adjustment takes time and they need a helping hand.
You Can Help Make Them Successful!
The students and staff at the Ulpana (Girls High School) in Ofra are determined to make a difference for new immigrants to their beloved country. They started by helping new immigrants from Ethiopia, but now they have expanded their reach to include new immigrants from around the globe. A supportive group of girls and staff are in place to help them acclimate to life in Israel. The goal is for the new immigrants to fall in love with Israel and to feel at home. To thrive in their new homeland.
These girls need your help. They have the support groups, counselors, and students in place, but they need funds for tutors, mentors, and therapists. Your donation today will provide a strong foundation for a new generation in Israel. You can give them the gift of education and support they need to break the cycle of poverty. You can help elevate these young women so that they can fulfill their God given destiny. Please join the students and staff in Ofra as they welcome these immigrants home.
